When it comes to auto theft, too many people assume that because they don't drive a 2018 BMW, the risk of their vehicle being stolen is slim to none. Believe it or not, 2016 statistics show that the five most commonly stolen vehicles in Canada are Ford trucks. The country with the most auto theft is Canada with Alberta as the leading province. B.C. is the runner up separated by 6000 instances of auto theft. Auto theft on the lower mainland of B.C. has had a 2% decrease while theft in other parts of British Columbia has had a 8% increase... We all know that gruesome murder happens, but it's hard to imagine in taking place in our Country...Let alone our province. Robert William Pickton is a notorious serial killer who before his arrest, resided on his pig farm in Port Coquitlam BC. Pickton- A.K.A "Willie" is serving the heaviest sentence possible for murder which began in 2007- a life sentence with no possibility for parole. A grand total of 49 women died by his actions starting in February 2002. By October that year, he held the title for the largest investigation of a serial killer. Just to make this even more disgusting, there is forensic proof that human remains were not only fed to his pigs, but also sold as pork to visitors on the farm. Heavy assault rifles, handcuffs and poisons were all found on Pickton's property. School should be thought of being a place of safety. At any school, any form of violence is ''not tolerated" but although it is said not to be tolerated- that is absolutely not the case. Canadian statistics show that 10% of all illegal or violent occurrences in youth occur in a school setting. This includes bullying, verbal abuse, physical harm and drug possession. Although schools in more rural areas have a rate of crime that is much smaller, some inner city schools, have such a high rate of violent crime  that they have a metal detector at the entrance. When a young person is having a conversation about sexual assault, it will go one of three ways- either they'll be told how to avoid being assaulted or they will be told never to objectify someone. The third option is that this conversation just didn't happen... probably because it's uncomfortable. It's an "awkward" conversation to have with your son or daughter because no parent ever has wanted to imagine their child as a victim- let alone someone capable of assaulting another person.
