Impacts of Being a Victim of Crime Livia Eni Being a victim of any crime, small or large can be emotionally, mentally and physically devastating. The changes that a victim of a major crime will go through are different for each person and their crime. I'm sure we've all heard of post traumatic stress disorder, but there are so many seemingly strange outcomes of being a victim related to PTSD. The police investigation, physical exam or just returning to the scene of the crime can be like being victimized all over again. Many victims of sexual assault have reported that they felt faulted by health services for what happened to them. Denial is a major problem shortly after a person has been a victim of crime- as well as in the long run. Later down the road, denial may confuse a victim into thinking that they are fine and have recovered from their trauma when there are still tons of skeletons in the closet. Why I Think Crime Happens in Bc.

It's no secret that drug related crimes happen in our province, just look on the news. But although we all know it's happening, do we know why? Although violent crimes, robbery and harassment are on a steep decline, drug usage in BC is not following that pattern. Some believe that the only reason drug related crimes are going down a measly 2%, is due to the decrease of pot and cocaine usage, while the use of meth and heroin are skyrocketing. Although marijuana is a very popular drug, even with its legalization I would not anticipate a huge increase in usage in B.C. - if you're not inclined to use it while it's illegal, chances are you won't have much interest as soon as it's legal. What is surprising is the amount of people using cocaine and other hard drugs as mentioned earlier.
